The Rise and Fall of Freedom

in the

United States of America

The United States of America is the greatest country in the world, and the greatest nation of freedom in world history.  But it didn't just happen.

American colonists recognized that their rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness were God-given rights, not created by the king or any government, and they revolted against the king of England and Parliament to defend their rights.

They knew that government is necessary to defend and maintain freedom, but they understood that every exercise of power by government limits individual freedom.

For people to live together in freedom, each person's freedom must be limited by the right of others to be free, but no more than necessary for that purpose.

After they won their freedom, our founders designed and created a new form of government, and granted it the limited powers it needed to protect their freedom.

The rights of the people, including their right to govern themselves through their State governments, remained supreme, except for the specific, limited, and defined powers they granted to the federal government through the U.S. Constitution.

After several long struggles, Americans who fully understood the principles of freedom ended slavery in our country and finally enacted laws to defend freedom for all.

Freedom allowed Americans to create the most prosperous nation in the world.

Other countries also overthrew despots, but didn't establish freedom.  They stole from the rich and replaced the despots with communist/socialist leaders that were as bad or worse.  Americans fought wars and took other actions against some of these regimes.

But stealing from the rich and believing false promises became so popular here that Americans began to trade in their freedom for them.

Politicians ignored the Constitution, lied to the people, and assumed powers they didn't legitimately possess.  They appointed judges who ruled falsely that the Constitution didn't limit federal power, and intimidated any who wouldn't cooperate.

They've progressively replaced a limited government of freedom with a socialist one of unlimited power, and destroyed the Constitution's ability to protect our freedom.

The final blows against freedom are being struck by the current regime as it brags openly about stealing from the rich and giving to the government.  They've made millions of Americans so dependent upon them that they've willingly traded away our freedom.

We the people had a chance to stop them in 2012 and begin restoring our freedom by just voting, but we failed.  The final destruction of our freedom is now in progress.  We won't give up, but the struggle will now be much harder, with greater risk of defeat.
